PSAT – October 15, 2016
The PSAT is given only once each year and is excellent practice for the SAT. It is also the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for this year’s juniors. For many students the PSAT is the first official step on the road to college.
The PSAT is recommended for all juniors. Sophomores are also encouraged to take the PSAT as practice for their junior year, when their results become official. The PSAT is not available to freshmen.
The PSAT will be given Saturday, October 15, 2016, here at South High. Registration will run from October 3, 7:00am until October 12th 2:30pm. Sign up early, as there are a limited number of tests. Once we run out, we cannot order more. Parents/students can pay online with a credit card through Zangle Parent Connect, or with cash/check with Ms. Thornton in the front office. The cost will be $20. If a student pays online, they need to bring their receipt of payment to Mrs. Valentine at curriculum in order to obtain their PSAT Prep Book.
PSAT results will be available from the College Board in January. Counselors will have the actual test booklet used by each student and will return the test booklet along with the student’s scored answer sheet to each individual. This gives students the opportunity to review and further prepare for the SAT.
