The staff at South Anchorage High School is looking forward to welcoming all our students back on the first day of school! Below are some important reminders about the first day of school for students and parents.
- School Supplies: In high school, school supplies are very specific to what course a student is taking. For the first day of school, students only need paper and something to write with. After the first day, teachers will be able to let students know what type of supplies are needed for each class. A notebook to keep organized or a folder system is always recommended so students can keep their classwork organized as the school year progresses. Additionally, PE classes do not dress out the first day of school so you do not need your change of clothes for the first day of gym class.
- Schedules: The first day of school, students should verify their first period class on the posters that will be in the commons by last name. Once in first period, teachers will hand a new schedule out to each student. Most students will see no changes to their schedule but some students may see slight changes due to after registration schedule changes that were needed to balance our class sizes. Students should follow the new schedule that is given to them in the morning.
- Schedule Changes: If students are wishing to change a class, schedule changes will be available to students beginning Wednesday, August 24th. Students can find the schedule change form outside the Curriculum Office.
- Traffic: The first few weeks of school traffic at SAHS tends to be heavy during drop off and pick up times. We encourage you to plan ahead for traffic and also to be patient with one another. Additionally, carpooling is always a big help! At SAHS, we try our best to be good neighbors as well so please do not park and/or drop off students in the surrounding neighborhood areas. We appreciate all your cooperation ahead of time.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone’s smiling faces on Monday and we hope you’ve had a terrific Alaskan summer!
