Greetings to all our SAHS Families!
The 2016-17 school year is off and running and we’ve had a terrific start to the year! It’s been great fun seeing all of our new students fill the hallways and welcome back all our returning students. Students are smiling, excited about new classes and happy to be back with their friends at school.
There are many great things coming up at SAHS in the near future and I encourage you to stay connected in a way that works best for you. I’ve listed a variety of ways you are able to find out what’s happening here at school.
- Website: southanchoragehighschool.org
- Smartphone app: Wired Wolverine available for download
- Facebook; SAHSwolverine (South Anchorage High School, Home of the Wolverines)
- Video Announcements on Youtube
- School Messenger phone calls and emails
- Counseling Corner Newsletter
- PTSO Daily Bulletin (PTSO membership required)
Next week, we will be celebrating Homecoming at SAHS with spirit dress-up days and activities at lunch each day of the week at the elevator.
- Tuesday: Hippies and Hipsters
- Wednesday: Country Club
- Thursday: Dynamic Duo
- Friday: Black and Gold!
In addition to black and gold spirit, Friday will be our big celebration with an all-school breakfast sponsored by PTSO before school, an assembly and our school dance at 8:00 pm that evening. We will round off our celebrations on Saturday with flag-football and football games at 1 pm and 3pm on our turf field. I hope you encourage your student to join in the festivities!
The South PTSO does many amazing things to add to your son/daughter’s school experience here at SAHS. We are very appreciative of their support throughout the school year. I encourage you to become a member and support their efforts. If you would like to join please go to: https://www.southanchoragehighschool.org/ptso/join-us/membership-form/
This school year, SAHS will be focusing on attendance as a top priority. Our goal each year is that every one of our students attend school at least 90% of the time. We understand that illness and emergencies happen, however, we highly encourage students to be at school as much as possible for their academic success. If something does come up, please call the attendance line at 742-6200 option 7 and we will be sure excuse your student.
WELCOME back to another great school year at SAHS! The staff and I are looking forward to accomplishing great things with you and our students this school year!
